From Software: New game is already in the “final phase”

With Elden Ring, From Software brought a first-class Soulslike into the world in February 2022. Other projects are already in the works.

in the interview Hidetaka Miyazaki, president of the Japanese video game developer, answered the questions of the 4Gamer editors. On the one hand, he went into what he achieved as director together with his team at Elden Ring. On the other hand, Miyazaki revealed how things should continue.

Accordingly, the developer has several projects in the making: “The development is in the final phase,” replies the From president when asked about a specific title. Miyazaki had already mentioned this in 2018, but without naming a name.

“In fact, we’re working on several titles that I’m not the only director of and it’s time to increase our development staff,” continued the 48-year-old. “I think we’ll be able to show you a different color or direction for From Software, so look forward to that.”

It also seems as if Miyazaki will not have to do without in the director’s role in the future: “I intend to continue directing in the future,” he explains in the 4Gamer interview. After all, he always wanted to be a director and he really enjoys the work. Nonetheless, he remains President of the company. But he would prefer to “take advantage of the friendliness of the people around him and skip work as often as possible,” he said with a laugh.

Secret project Armored Core 6?

It is not yet clear what the game “in the final stages” is about. It is possible that From Software is working on a long overdue sequel to the Armored Core series. The fifth and so far last part of the series was released in early 2012 for the PS3 and Xbox 360.

Rumors surrounding Armored Core 6 have been circulating for quite some time; on ResetEra alleged leaks also made the rounds in January. There, the user told Red Liquorice that he had taken part in a consumer study that even showed game scenes. The user even shared a screenshot of the alleged text description in the forum.
