Ryzen 7000: First possible specifications of the mobile CPUs

from Julius Bald
The first specifications for the Ryzen 7000 series are circulating on the internet. It’s about both Dragon Range and the differently populated chips of the Phoenix series. The CPUs are supposed to be a direct answer to Intel Alder Lake-HX.

The rumors go back to the YouTube channel of Red Gaming Tech, who is said to have received a lot of information about Dragon Range and Phoenix. AMD Dragon Range is said to be designed for the use of laptops that focus on the “enthusiast gaming” area. These models are equipped with two RDNA2 compute units and therefore have a greater focus on strong CPU performance. There are four processors to choose from: Ryzen 9 7980HX with 16 cores, Ryzen 9 7900HX with 12 cores, Ryzen 7 7800HX with 8 cores and Ryzen 5 7600HX with 6 cores.

AMD Dragon Range & Phoenix: This is how the mobile CPUs could be equipped

The clock rates at Dragon Range are between 4.8 and over 5.0 gigahertz in boost, while the base clock should be between 3.6 and over 4.0 gigahertz depending on the TDP. The TDP of the Dragon Range should probably be above 55 watts. AMD Phoenix uses a different philosophy and pursues a greater balance between CPU and GPU performance. The CPUs should be between 35 and 45 watts TDP and designed for light and thin laptops. In addition, RDNA3 GPU cores are to be used here for the first time with 12 compute units.

Red Gaming Tech also speaks of four models: the Ryzen 9 7980HS with eight cores, Ryzen 9 7900HS with eight cores, Ryzen 7 7800HS also with eight cores and Ryzen 5 7600HS with six cores. The clock rate of the iGPU is said to be between 2.6 and 3.0 gigahertz, which results in a theoretical performance of 9.2 teraflops. The performance target here should obviously be the mobile version of the RTX 3060.
