Jack Sparrow from the Pirates of the Caribbean films is an absolute screen icon, thanks in part to Johnny Depp’s brilliant performance. But as far as the look is concerned, the actor is currently facing a lot of competition from a cosplayer – or is it just Johnny in the end? We are not sure!
While cosplayers often dress up with elaborate costumes and in this way characters from films, games and popular Netflix series embody, you can still usually recognize: This is someone who has disguised himself as this character. Even when impersonating real actors, it’s difficult for many artists to adjust their own face well enough to resemble a famous performer. But a cosplayer has succeeded in this supreme discipline with her outfit by Jack Sparrow!

The talented Reddit user Whatsername186 has stunned the members of the cosplay subreddit with her project. Because making costumes is something you can expect from any good cosplayer. But the hobbyist has disappeared 100 percent in her disguise. Her whole look, every feature, the make-up makes you skeptical that it’s not just Johnny Depp:

How did cosplayer bring Jack Sparrow to life so well?
Whatsername186 remains relatively modest. Because while she’s proud of her cosplay, she also references one Jack Sparrow makeup tutorial the superb cosplayer Alyson Tabbitha, which helped her accentuate her bone structure that she resembles Jack Sparrow so closely. The outfit itself is a wild mix – she made the vest, the hand decoration, the wig and parts of the boots, while other parts come from a thrift store and some of the existing jewelry was misused. She simply bought a hat, compass and belt. She’s even working on the right coat – but it’s still too hot in Texas for that at the moment.
