Because of toxic fans, Ron Gilbert won't tell you anymore about Return to Monkey Island

Ron Gilbert refuses to continue posting about Return to Monkey Island. The reason for this is toxic fans who are said to have personally attacked the game developer.

Gilbert resorts to collective punishment

Gilbert has been criticized for changing the graphic style between the classic Monkey Island games and the visuals of the upcoming sequel.

In fact, the negative vibes got so bad that the creator of the series decided not to say anything about Return to Monkey Island in the future. He shared the decision with his fans on his personal blog.

More on Return to Monkey Island:

There he wrote: “I turn off the comments. People are just mean and I have to delete comments with personal attacks.”

“It’s a great game and everyone on the team is very proud of it. Play it or don’t play it, but don’t ruin it for everyone else. I won’t be posting about the game anymore. I’ve lost the joy of sharing.”

Gilbert’s blog is offline at the time of writing, so the developer behind Monkey Island and Thimbleweed Park appears to be very serious about the loss of communication.
