Epic Games: Three (!) new free games, next week with Killing Floor 2

It’s that time again: Thursday at 5 p.m. the free games at Epic Games change. Often it’s one free title, sometimes it’s two. But three? That doesn’t happen that often. And the prospects for the coming week are not bad either.

Epic Games: This week with Geneforge 1 Mutagen, Iratus and Hood

The fact that Epic Games is now offering three games is surprising, since there were “only” two games on the roadmap: Iratus and Geneforge 1. Iratus: Lord of the Dead is an indie roguelike RPG featuring tactical turn-based combat. Players take on the role of the necromancer Iratus, who commands an army of the living dead. This army is recruited from the bodies of slain enemies and aims to conquer the mortal world. Iratus: Lord of the Dead’s gameplay is reminiscent of Darkest Dungeon, but from an evil perspective. The title currently has 85 percent approval on Steam.

at Geneforge 1 – Mutagen It is a remaster of the game Geneforge released in 2001. We embody a so-called shaper, a powerful magician who can create life. The Shaper is stranded on an island that holds many of the secrets of his own people. However, there are invaders on the island who want to get the secrets.

Apparently Epic boss Sweeney found a few more dollars and also secured Hood: Outlaws & Legends. Yes, the title was only released in 2021, on May 10th. – so he’s barely a year old. Medieval PvPvE multiplayer action game didn’t get as many friends as we wanted. In the case of the Steam competition, the approval rate is a meager 53 percent, which is probably also due to the fact that you won’t get that far with the base game alone, but should invest in Seasons. Accordingly, at Epic only gave away the base game, Battle Passes and “Skip Packs” cost extra. Bugs and exploits are criticized on Steam, which in itself is not good advertising for the game.

Epic Games: Next week with Ancient Enemy and Killing Floor 2

Also in the week from 7.7. it stays exciting. With Killing Floor 2, a big name is already in the starting blocks. Tripwire’s 18-player multiplayer battle record has over 70,000(!) ratings and an 88 percent approval rating. Again, there are some add-ons alongside the base game.

This will be joined by an RPG card battler, Ancient Enemy, which was released in April 2020 and has a 92 percent approval rating on Steam. According to the description, Ancient Enemy is a strategic RPG card game “in which you make interesting tactical decisions while fighting warped enemies and solving challenging puzzles. Face a horde of deadly enemies, each one from a world where evil has already triumphed. You must not only endure, but rebuild your powers to defeat evil and fight one last duel against your monstrous nemesis”.
