That’s what it’s about: The Opening Night Live is the opening show for gamescom and has developed into one of the biggest gaming events in recent years. As at the Summer Game Fest, The Game Awards host Geoff Keighley will lead through the event, which will mainly show trailers with one or the other reveal.

When does Opening Night Live 2022 take place? The date has already been set: while gamescom 2022 itself will run from August 24th to 28th, 2022, the Opening Night Live will take place the evening before.

After things could not go as usual in recent years due to the ongoing corona pandemic, gamescom 2022 is returning to Cologne as a hybrid event. That means there will be online content as well as the on-site show.

However, some larger publishers are staying away from the fair. Sony, for example, will not have its own stand, and neither will Nintendo, Activision Blizzard, 2K and Rockstar Games. But there are, for example, Bandai Namco, Sega and also Ubisoft.

In total, over 250 companies are expected to start at the fair and the Indie Arena Booth is also making a return this year. If you didn’t want to miss out on the live event, you can now get tickets in advance. This year it’s the only way to get tickets. None will be offered at the fair itself.
