Youtube star Technoblade has succumbed to cancer. The Minecraft “Let’s Player” subscribed to by millions was only 23 years old. It was the father who broke the news of his son’s death via YouTube video. In addition to personal words that he addressed to the 12.2 million channel subscribers, he also read a last message from his son. “Hello everyone, this is Technoblade. If you see this, I’m dead,” were the introductory sentences. And what was on the screen were scenes from the sandbox game Minecraft.

Technoblade’s last online message was a mix of anecdotes and thanks. Alex, as he was called in real life, told, among other things, about one of his most successful “pranks”. “One of my siblings once called me ‘Dave’ in a deleted video from 2016. […] With that, we fooled thousands of online creepy guys trying to get overly personal by saying, ‘Oh, hey, Dave! How are you?'”. If he had 100 lives again, he would choose to be Technoblade again and again, because these were the happiest years of his life. Alex thanked his subscribers for their loyalty over the years.

Technoblade made his cancer public in August 2021; at this point he had been producing YouTube videos and streams for eight years. The family commented that Alex had been battling stage four cancer for the past year. He has done a lot to keep his true identity a secret. Therefore, it was asked that Technoblade’s wishes to protect his privacy and the privacy of his family continue to be respected.
