Ubisoft wants to bring you closer to climate change in Skull & Bones and Riders Republic

In both the upcoming Skull & Bones and Riders Republic, publisher Ubisoft would like to draw attention to the consequences of climate change as part of in-game events.

As axios reports, the event in Riders Republic is planned for late 2022 or early 2023 and is said to be about wildfires.

Together against the fire

The task of the players in this “short and intense” event is to prevent giant sequoias from burning down.

According to publisher Ubisoft, there is no advance warning before the event. “Instead, upon launching the game, players will immediately be immersed in the aftermath of the forest fires on the edge of the map,” it says.

Don’t catch too many fish

An in-game event in Skull & Bones rumored to be coming in November 2022, deals turn to the problem of overfishing.

“Our first event will look at resource exploitation and show what happens in the game world and in the real world when demand for shark fins leads to overfishing of sharks,” it said. “As players contribute to the community challenges, rewards will be unlocked for all players based on overall participation.”
