Arte is expanding its range of channels: the public broadcasters RTVE (Corporación de Radio y Televisión Española) from Spain and LRT (Lietuvos nacionalinis radijas ir televizija) from Lithuania are added.
In doing so, Arte is following its public mission to “promote the understanding and rapprochement of the peoples of Europe”. According to the press release, both LRT and RTVE will be involved in future co-productions with Arte.
The first projects have already started, such as a documentary about the Spanish writer Jorge Semprún on the occasion of his 100th birthday, and another documentary about Baltic design. The two contracts also provide for cooperation in the distribution of the digital offerings.
