WoW Wrath of the Lich King: This is how Northrend came about – Blizzard review

Unexpected, unusual, surprising

  • There is now role selection for Protection, Healing, and Damage across the three talent trees. Since your selection there has no influence on the role selection in the group search or the dual talent distribution, this may only be a display aid for newcomers, without any deeper added value.
  • In Dalaran we can already in the beta with the “Frozen Orbs” trader Frozo the Well Known speak, although this had only come into play with Patch 3.3.3. This exchanges, among other things, important crafting materials Frozen Balls. This is the only thing missing from his offer at the moment Pattern: Flying Frost Carpet.
  • From Larana Drom (Inscription Supply, also Dalaran) we can buy three recipes in the beta that actually came into play later: for “Glyph of Eternal Water”, “Glyph of Hasty Rejuvenation” and “Glyph of Rapid Decay”.
  • Also in Dalaran is currently Copperbolt Mechapliers, the steam-powered auctioneer for engineers. At that time, this only came into play with patch 3.2.
  • The archmages Timear and Lan’dalock distribute daily quests for the Northrend dungeons in Dalaran. This is only surprising because of the game’s patch 3.3.5 status, since both NPCs were no longer providing players with dungeon dailys at the time.
  • Although Onyxia was only changed to a level 80 raid challenge for WotLK with patch 3.2.2, the dragon lady is already in the beta in her “new” form.
  • Haris Pilton is already selling this in beta Portable hole (24 place bag). At that time, the luxury item only came into play with Patch 3.3.

  • There is now an extra badge tab in the character window for all the PvP and PvE badges. These also no longer take up inventory space.
  • The enchantments from the various Northrend faction vendors are account-bound, so you only need to farm that reputation on one character to gain access to the enchantments on all characters.
  • When mining, you only have to loot each vein of ore once to collect all the ores. In addition, collecting (including herbs, clouds and leather) and picking locks in the beta is faster than in TBC Classic.
  • In WotLK Classic, you can change your engineering specialization in Tanaris for 150 gold.
  • You can have consumable items like potions in your inventory in stacks of 20 in the beta.
  • While Warlocks have a new Summoning Stone, they can only port players within a dungeon in the beta if the ported are already in the dungeon. So you cannot port players from outside into an instance.
  • Cast sequence macros in which you string together instant spells (e.g. strong for vengeance paladins or death knights) are possible in WotLK Classic.
  • The enemies in normal TBC dungeons give the same amount of experience as the enemies in the heroic version (at least currently in beta). If you want to level up to level 71 this way, you can make it easier on Normal.
  • Characters from TBC Classic who log out in the original Naxxramas actually end up in Naxxramas in the beta, only to be ported out, to Dalaran! If you are fast enough, you can also leave Naxx via the portal, which will take you out to the Dragonblight. Will that also work in the pre-patch?!
  • Guardian Druids can use rage potions to increase their rage pool in the beta.
