Final Fantasy 14: The island paradise will be so good!
In his 71st Letter from the Producer LIVE, Naoki Yoshida spoke in detail for the first time about the island paradise that is to come with the upcoming update 6.2 “Buried Memory” for Final Fantasy 14. It is already clear: Something completely new awaits us with the island paradise.
The island paradise was one of the features introduced with the first announcements of Final Fantasy 14: Endwalker. Nevertheless, the information about it was always very scarce, which is why there were a lot of rumors and speculations about it in the past. However, since the 71st Letter from the Producer LIVE, that has all come to an end as, for the first time, Yoshi-P spoke at length about what to expect in this solo content.
In the island paradise it will be your task to build and explore your own island. You have to collect raw materials and build a base on the island. Since this content works completely independently of the normal game, it does not require any professions or specific job classes. As Yoshi-P pointed out in a previous interview, he wants you to enjoy this content without any pressure or competition from other players.
The island paradise – the course of the game
Each player will have their own island, which they get completely free of charge. Here he can search for raw materials with which he can then produce the first buildings of his base and new tools. These tools finally allow you to search for more valuable raw materials and thus explore new areas of the island. By the way, all materials will end up in their own inventory, so you don’t have to worry about your bag space.
However, the island paradise should not only focus on collecting and building. It will also be possible to catch and breed animals on the island. Yoshi-P stressed that players should also keep their eyes peeled for rare and even unique animals. And since we’re on the subject of animals: You can also expose your companions here and let them wander around the island freely.
You will also be able to manufacture and sell products on your island. However, you will not receive a gil for this, but a special currency that only works on your island. You can exchange this currency for special items. However, Yoshi-P did not want to reveal what these are. We will learn more about the island paradise in the upcoming live letter.
By the way, the developers are still collecting feedback for the island paradise. One of the questions that came up during the live letter was whether you could also invite well-known NPCs to your island.
