League of Legends is becoming an MMO and brings exactly what many fans want

League of Legends wird zum MMO und bringt genau das, was sich viele Fans wünschen

The League of Legends MMORPG is currently in development. There is not much information yet, but thanks to a tweet we know that the LoL champions will appear.

At the end of 2020, the LoL MMORPG was officially announced. Greg “Ghostcrawler” Street, WoW’s former lead designer, is behind the game. However, there is no official release date yet.

Ghostcrawler recently answered a question from user @/ElderwoodEndo on Twitter. He tweeted, “I understand we won’t be champions in the MMO ourselves, but can there be any connection to our favorite champion?” As an example, he cites the champion Azir, whom he wishes to have at his side in the MMORPG.

Ghostcralwer’s response offers us some exciting news. He tweeted: “The champions are the foundation of our IP. They must occur. Still, we have many of them and we must do justice to all of them. It might take a while before everyone’s favorite is included.”

So the champions are definitely in the MMORPG. Exactly how remains unclear. The developer just promises to put a lot of effort into them, so it might take a while before all champions are part of the game.

Previous information about the LoL MMORPG

What kind of game is this? The MMORPG will be set in Runeterra, which is the same universe as League of Legends. So far, however, it is not known what the combat system looks like and from what perspective you look at the game. Fights in the ISO perspective would be possible, as in LoL itself.

A first-person perspective cannot be ruled out either. Just like a third-person view, like in WoW. The combat system could work as tab targeting, i.e. more automatically, or as action combat like in ESO.

There are also first statements about the game content. The LoL MMORPG should rely on dungeons and raids in the endgame. The raids should be one of the most important game content. So the LoL MMORPG will most likely focus on group content.

There will also be PvP in the LoL MMO. However, we don’t yet know exactly how this works.

A release before 2024 is unlikely

When will the LoL MMORPG appear? Ghostcrawler only revealed earlier this year that the game is still in an early stage of development. There are also no videos or screenshots of the gameplay yet. Neither has an alpha been announced.

Since there hasn’t even been an exact overview of the features so far, a release before 2024 is considered very unlikely. We at MeinMMO continue to monitor the development of the MMORPG and keep you up to date when there is news.
