Lost Ark: Everything we know so far about the July update
The monthly updates in Lost Ark are the ones that make the big changes. Also in July such an update is at the start again. We at MeinMMO will tell you all the details about the patch.
When is the update coming? As Amazon has now confirmed via Twitter and in the forum, the big July update will be released on July 20th. So they stay with the new Wednesday as patch day.
However, we cannot give an exact time yet. What is very certain, however, is that the servers will be shut down punctually at 9 a.m. With a look at the last few months, the patch will probably be live between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., but this is usually only confirmed the day before.
Amazon will also only release the exact patch notes on July 19, which has also been confirmed by Community Manager Roxx. Until then, the exact changes are still in the stars. However, we already know the name of the update, Spells in Spades, and its core content.
What’s in the update? The following new content awaits you in Lost Ark in July:
- The arcanist as a new class of mages
- Valtan on the Infernal difficulty, which has some pitfalls
- Abyssal Dungeons in Challenge Mode
- The Water Bomb Arena Summer Event
- New skins

New class adds more DPS to mages
What can the arcanist do? The new arcanist belongs to the mage class, which also includes the sorceress and bard. However, unlike the Bard, the Arcanist is a damage-only class that doesn’t have as much to offer in terms of support as the Bard. However, she does enough damage to steal the Sorceress’ throne. With a little bit of luck.
Because luck is crucial for the arcanist. The card magician draws her powers from a magical deck of tarot cards. She fights with them and activates her skills, but as is the case with a card game, chance also plays a role. You never know what card you’re going to draw next.
This makes the Arcanist one of the most demanding classes in Lost Ark.
What makes you special? However, the arcanist is not only unique because of its random class mechanics. Unlike the sorceress, the arcanist acts at medium range and can sometimes go into close combat.
To do this, she relies on a reservoir of movement skills with which she can move quickly and gracefully across the battlefield and thus adapt to her situation at any time. Which at the same time is what you must. Thanks to the random factor, you have to be prepared and able to react to everything at all times.

When is the arcanist coming? The new class will be unlocked at the same time as the July 20th patch. Also coming at the same time is a new event that will help you promote your arcanist straight to the endgame. We have explained exactly how this works for you in a separate article.

The infernal Valtan
What’s changing on the boss? The Legion Raid Valtan has been in Lost Ark since May. It is currently available there in its normal and heavy version. However, with the July update comes the first hellish variant of a boss in our version of the game.
There are some special features that you have to pay attention to, although the boss itself hardly changes. The fight stays mostly the same, but the framework around it is made a bit harder. For example, the Book of Coordination is used, which you already know from PvP.
You can no longer just level up Valtan in hellish. Your equipment will be normalized and you will always have the same Gearscore as Valtan has. For the infernal level, this means that you need Gearscore 1,445 and cannot exceed it.
This also means that you have to pay special attention to mechanics that you could previously avoid.
In addition, the checkpoints are deactivated. So you have to do the hellish Valtan raid in one go and you can’t save in between and come back later, as is usually the case with Legion raids.
What rewards are there? The hellish Valtan is meant to be a special challenge and is rewarded as such. That means you won’t get the usual rewards you know from Legion Raids. Instead, Lost Ark rewards you with titles, achievements, fortress buildings, and more.
However, we do not yet know exactly what the other rewards will look like. However, you always increase your rewards by completing the boss more often. For some particularly nice items you have to defeat Valtan like hell several times.
Good thing is that Infernal Mode doesn’t contribute to your weekly limit for Legion Raids. You can play Valtan on Normal, Hard, and Infernal within a week.
Abyssal dungeon challenges and new event
Abyssal dungeons in the new mode: The new Abyssal Dungeon Challenges line up with opportunities to help you climb your Gearscore faster. They are based on the already known Trial Guardian Raids and form a new activity that you can complete weekly and thus collect rewards.
Again, these rewards come in the form of a special currency, which you can then exchange for the materials you need at the time. In addition, Amazon is focusing on the possibility of rare card drops, but we don’t know exactly what they are at the moment.
However, what is known is that you can complete each abyss dungeon in challenge mode once per week per account. As with the infernal Valtan, you will be normalized and therefore cannot go into the dungeons with a gear score that is too high.
Depth Bomb Arena Event: A genuine summer event awaits you in July. You have to dive into a swimming pool and try to push the opposing team out of the pool with your water gun.
The further the game progresses, the smaller the pool itself becomes. So you always have to be careful not to fall out yourself and still collect enough points to win in the end.
There is currently no more detailed information about the event. However, based on the teaser image, it is conceivable that skins for bikinis and summer fashion will finally come into play. That’s what fans have been asking for since last month.
