Switch warning: According to Nintendo, above this temperature you should switch off the console

Well, the switch probably won’t burn, but you should still take care of your hybrid console.

Summer is here and the temperatures in Germany are cracking the 30 degree mark. The heat waves not only affect us, but also our technical devices. Nintendo is now even issuing a warning if you want to use your switch console in the summer.

Nintendo warns against use at high temperatures

On Twitter, Nintendo’s Japanese customer service is currently warning against turning on the Nintendo Switch at high temperatures. The reason is the currently extremely high temperatures in Japan, which exceed the 35 °C mark:

At what temperature should I turn off the Switch? Above a temperature of 36 °C, Nintendo recommends that you stop using the switch. Problems can also arise when playing with the switch in cold regions, which is why you should also switch off the console at temperatures below 5 °C.

What else happens? The internal temperature rise may cause the device to turn itself off and enter sleep mode. This prevents damage to the components that cannot withstand the heat.

How can I prevent this? If you use the switch in the docking station, you should make sure to place it in a well-cooled place and not expose it to direct sunlight. Also, be careful not to block the air inlet and outlet vents on the console itself. If there is dust on the ventilation slots, you can remove it with a small hand-held vacuum cleaner, for example.
