WoW has a new shop mount – you may have already gotten it
A pretty fancy mount has landed in the World of Warcraft shop. Many of you may have already received this “for free”.
For a long time now, World of Warcraft has not only earned its money through the sale of expansions or subscription fees, but also through the in-game shop. This will be replenished at regular intervals with mounts, pets or, more recently, toys and transmog sets. A new mount has recently been added to the shop
What kind of mount is that? The Nether-Gorged Greatwyrm, as the name suggests, is a fairly large and fairly detailed manawyrm.
From a purely visual point of view, the mount seems to be made for blood elf characters. The saddle and bridle are hued in gold and red, while greenish jewels resemble fel crystals—the same color palette that adorns the blood elf city of Silvermoon. The gold “wing” appliqués and head and saddle are also strongly reminiscent of the sin’dorei crest and aesthetic.
How do you get the mount? The Wyrm is part of a new promotion. If you subscribe to World of Warcraft for 6 months, you get the mount as a bonus – in addition to the general discount of 15% that a long-term subscription already entails.
What if you already have a subscription? If you already have an active 6-month subscription, don’t fret – you’ll get the Nether-saturated Great Wryrm too. Whether you are a new subscriber or a loyal long-term customer with a permanent 6-month subscription, you will get the mount.
Note, however, that it may take a few days for the mount to show up as a gift in your Battle.net app. But as soon as this is the case, you have until December 31, 2022 to unlock the mount by clicking on “Redeem”.
Can the mount be bought separately? Yes, that is possible. If you don’t want to bind yourself to World of Warcraft for 6 months, but are still impressed by the Nether-saturated Great Wyrm, you can also buy it directly in the shop. Then the mount costs a handsome 25 euros. So if you want, you can also earn the mount indirectly with in-game gold via the WoW brand.
Here’s how the community is reacting: As usual with a new shop mount, the reaction on YouTube has been rather scathing. There it is now common practice to add “dislikes” to absolutely every video for a new shop mount in WoW. The dislike is also clearly evident in the comments, here are a few examples:

- “Just keep breaking the game, thanks.”
- “Another re-skin of the worm model. 10/10, I wouldn’t buy it.”
However, if you look around at fan sites, the mood seems to be mixed to positive. on wowhead For example, many players like the look of the mount, especially in connection with the legacy armor of the blood elves. But there is also criticism here that the mount might have been better suited elsewhere in the game:
