PlayStation: Stars: Sony announces new loyalty program

With PlayStation Stars, Sony is introducing a new loyalty program for players. With this we can unlock different types of rewards by facing different challenges.

These range from simply playing a title to unlocking specific trophies. The rewards that are promised to us with PlayStation Stars differ similarly: in addition to PSN credit, which we can spend on new games, there should also be digital collectibles.

When does PlayStation Stars start?

Although Sony has only announced PlayStation Stars so far, a launch later in the year within the in-house blog posts the speech. Participation in the loyalty program should be completely free and players from all over the world should have access.

According to Sony, the new program is primarily intended to evoke memories of past games and whet the appetite for the future with the PlayStation, the blog continues. At the moment, the first tests would probably already be carried out before PlayStation Stars are later to be introduced “regionally in phases”.

How to earn PS Stars Points

There are many ways in which you can get the points: Apart from monthly “check-ins”, where you simply have to have played any game every 30 days, there should be community tournaments and local best places. For the latter, for example, it is necessary to be the first player in a time zone to earn a platinum trophy in a blockbuster title. But there are also simpler ways to earn the coveted points, such as spending a certain amount of time within a game or logging into online mode for the first time.

What rewards can we expect from PlayStation Stars?

To make all the effort worthwhile, there will be a whole host of rewards up for grabs in the PlayStation Stars Program. In addition to the aforementioned PSN credit, this also includes complete games for download, extensions and the ominous “digital collector’s items”, which, according to Sony, will expressly not be NFTs. Instead, 3D images of characters and devices from the PlayStation universe are conceivable.

It is worth mentioning here that paying PS Plus members will receive more Playstation Stars points. How many of the individual activities should be exactly, is still in the stars.
