Fall Guys: Incorrect in-game purchases cause trouble

In the shop of the free-to-play party game Fall Guys, an incorrect preview option can currently lead to unwanted in-game purchases.

While the Fall Guys party game, which has also been available on Xbox consoles for a good three weeks, can be played completely free of charge, the in-game shop offers a number of opportunities to invest real money in cosmetic items such as characters, customizations and outfits.

Now some players are reporting an annoying bug that leads to the unwanted purchase of items. In some cases, using the preview option resulted in the purchase of the item without having to confirm it again.

When asked, both the developer Mediatonic and the publisher were initially uncooperative. Fall Guys support is said to have completely denied the problem in an email response to an affected person, blaming the player and refusing a refund.

As a result, there was of course outrage within the Fall Guys community. Above all, the ignorance and the rude tone of the support caused resentment.

To smooth things over, a Mediatonic spokesman responded to VGC’s request with the following explanation:

“What is happening in the game is not intended and we are actively working to fix it. The response from customer service was also unacceptable and we will offer redress to all those affected.”

A statement followed a short time later Twitter. In this, the Fall Guy team apologized for the inconvenience and assured the fix of the error and the possibility of reimbursement. In addition, every player receives the Grandis costume free of charge as compensation.
