The Callisto Protocol: New gameplay scenes revealed

The Callisto Protocol (Action-Adventure) von Krafton / Skybound Games

In an interview with Game Informer, Striking Distance Studios CEO Glen Schofield discusses the origins of sci-fi horror The Callisto Protocol. On top of that there are new gameplay scenes to see.

Schofield talks about the inspiration he’s drawn from titles he’s worked on in the past, like Dead Space. He also answers a few questions from the Game Informer editors and explains the strange way in which the idea for The Callisto Protocol was born.

The Callisto Protocol: Schofield came up with the idea for sci-fi survival in the desert

In the interview, Schofield explains that after leaving Activision, he didn’t want to start developing new games straight away. Instead, he spent a few weeks alone in the desert to rediscover drawing. During this time he had the idea for the excitingly anticipated survival game.

After that, everything happened very quickly: you developed the right story for the game and presented your latest project to various publishers before you founded Striking Distance Studios and brought Krafton on board to finance the title at all.

In addition to the quite interesting insights into Schofield’s world of thought, there were also a few gameplay excerpts to see: In the first clip, we are followed from the point of view of the main protagonist directly in the middle of a dark passage by a crawling creature, which shortly afterwards is struck down with a shotgun becomes. Only a little later, mutant zombie, presenting his intestines, jumps out of a ventilation shaft directly above the player, which is first processed to a pulp with a few melee blows and then with the shotgun and a final kick.

The material shown is again strongly reminiscent of Dead Space and above all the creepy prison corridors create an unpleasant but harmonious atmosphere that should run through the entire game.
