With the coming patch, LoL is adjusting an item that hasn't been changed for 7 years

With patch 12.14, an item that was last changed in 2015 will be adjusted in League of Legends. The healing potion should regenerate fewer life points in the future. This fits into Riot Games’ current strategy of nerfing healing and shields.

What is changing about the healing potion? Health Potion currently costs 50 gold and restores a total of 150 health when used over 15 seconds. The upcoming patch 12.14 has already been installed on the test server. There the healing potion is significantly weaker:

  • The normal healing potion only restores 120 health instead of 150.
  • The Corrupting and Replenishing Healing Potions only restore 100 health instead of 120.

A nerf that fits right into the new strategy. Already with patch 12.10, more than 30 items that also offered healing or shields were weakened.

When was the healing potion last adjusted?

  • The last update was in November 2015. There the gold costs were increased from 35 to 50.
  • Previously, it was adjusted in November 2011. Back then, the healing was reduced from 200 to 150. However, the duration of the potion has also been adjusted from 20 to 15 seconds.
  • Otherwise, the icon was adjusted in November 2020, but this was not a change relevant to the game.

In early 2023, a number of titles from Riot Games are expected to be included in Xbox Game Pass. For LoL players, this will unlock all champions:

Buffs for the buffs of the dragons

What else is in Patch 12.14? The new 12.14 patch will include more Star Guardian skins and will be the last patch related to the event. There is also a big focus on adjustments to the dragons:

  • The Mountain Drake buff now brings 9% instead of 6% armor and magic resistance.
  • The buff from Ocean Drake now brings 3% instead of 2% regeneration from missing life.
  • Infernal Drake’s buff now brings 6% more AD/AP instead of 4%.
  • Cloud Drake’s buff will now bring 7% slow resistance and out-of-combat movement speed instead of 3.5%.
  • The buff from Hextech Drake now brings 9% and 9 instead of 6% and 6 attack speed and ability haste.
  • Cloud Soul’s buff will now bring 15% additional speed instead of 10%.

In addition, the life of the dragons is noticeably increased and the damage is adjusted:

  • All dragons will now get 3,450 + 380 per level instead of 2,650 + 240 per level.
  • After transforming the map, they also get 6,950 + 380 lives per level instead of 4,350 + 240 per level.
  • The Cloud Dragon is the only one to gain damage – Mountain, Ocean, Hextech, and Infernal Drake lose damage.

The Elder Drake is similar. This also gets more life, but loses attack damage.

The Herald, on the other hand, now gives more gold and the second Herald gets 75% more life.

What is changing about summoner spells? There are also two adjustments here:

  • Teleport now has a cooldown of 420 instead of 360 seconds in the normal version. However, the upgraded form is not changed.
  • Exhaust, on the other hand, only reduces incoming damage by 30% at levels 1-9. Only from level 9 it is – as before – 40%.

What do you think of the planned changes in Patch 12.14? Will you continue to rely on the healing potion in the future? Do you think the fact that the dragons lose damage but the fights last longer is good or bad? Feel free to write it in the comments.

Patch 12.13 with the new champion Nilah was only released last week. But it causes some problems:
