Bioware’s mega flop Anthem is only worth one (!) cent!
Electronic Arts and BioWare had very ambitious plans for the online shooter Anthem. It really should the next “big thing” and thus become a genuine blockbuster. Instead, it mutated into a mega flop very quickly after launch, and even a planned revision of the game was finally put on hold last year. Now follows the next low point in this chapter: Anthem is being sold at a sale right now.
Anthem for just a penny!
First, there was a report from the Reddit user “Spider-Man_Fan_123”. According to this, he recently had a total of in an unspecified GameStop branch in the United States 37 copies of Anthem Bought for the PS4. In total, including taxes, he has just enough for that Paid 41 US cents. Yes, you read that right: Every copy of the online shooter has been for just one US cent sold off, in the end there were another four cents in taxes on top of that. Because the Reddit user could hardly believe it himself at first, he published two photosshowing both the 37 copies of Anthem and the corresponding receipt.
A little later, the TikTok user reported “clocklava” to speak and confirmed in a video the report that appeared on Reddit.com. She stops also at GameStop purchased PS4 copy of Anthem.
The price tag is stuck on the packaging foil in the upper right corner, on which the information is clearly stated “$0.01” can be seen.
Why is GameStop currently selling Anthem so badly?
As the TikTok user reports later in the video, she had An employee interviewed on site about this amazing pricing. According to him, they would old or poorly running games at GameStop often either completely removed from the range or sold at a bargain price. In this way, the branches probably save the return shipments and have space on the shelves for new games create.
