Minecraft: developers ban NFTs

Minecraft: developers ban NFTs

In Minecraft (from 18.98€ at buy) there must be no NTFs. That’s what the developers of Mojang did in a statement clarified on the official website. Also on private servers and in mods, no blockchain elements may be integrated and sold.

NFT – Ban in Minecraft

The survival and crafting adventure Minecraft is a success story that is mainly based on the open community of the blocky pixel sandbox. Mods, skins and Co. have been an essential part of the gaming experience since the early days of Minecraft. The Mojang developers also know this – and are now putting a stop to NFTs and the associated cost limits.

The statement says: “Some companies have recently launched NFT embeds associated with Minecraft world files and skin packs. Other examples of how NFTs and the blockchain could be used include creating collectible Minecraft NFTs that allow players to NFT about activities on a server – or earn Minecraft NTFs through out-of-game activities.”

NFTs contradict the values of Minecraft

The developers don’t like this development at all. “NFTs are not non-inclusive to our community and create a scenario where there are haves and have-nots.”according to the official statement. “The speculative approach and investment mentality that surrounds NFTs shifts the focus away from the game and towards profit. This is incompatible with the long-term fun and success of our players.”

NFTs would, according to Mojang “does not align with the values of Minecraft, which are primarily based on inclusion and playing together”. There are also concerns that players could lose money when NFTs are involved.

For these reasons, blockchain technologies are no longer allowed in Minecraft client and server applications. They also must not be associated with in-game content, whether it’s worlds, skins, items, or mods.
