There is a new power shot in FIFA 23

Electronic Arts introduces Power Shot as a new game mechanic in FIFA 23.

This is included in FIFA 23 for the current gen devices and PC as well as for the older consoles.

This is how the power shot works in FIFA 23

According to EA, they wanted to introduce a new risk-reward mechanic, the result is the power shot. If you have enough space and aim precisely, you can score impressive goals with more power and accuracy. The animation needs but also longer.

To execute a power shot, hold down L1/R1 or LB/RB depending on the platform and then press the shot button. This will start a longer animation for a power shot while you can aim manually.

“For me it’s a great feeling when you score those goals because you deserve it,” said Kantcho Doskov, design director for FIFA gameplay. “You aimed well, created this space for yourself. It feels fantastic.”

The Power Shot replaces the previous Low Driven Shot from previous games. Which does not mean that such shots are no longer possible. You just have to do the power shot with less power.

“If you charge it between 20 and 30 percent, they’re low and fast,” explains Doskov. “So you can still get low driven shots. Even with headers. If you just put in some power you can get a powerful header down. So they’re still there.”

“But if you hold down those two modifiers, you get the power shot and you aim manually. That means if you aim for the corner flag, the shot goes there. But since the animations are long, you have time. So when you hit the shoot button button, you have a good second to aim exactly where you want to go and then fire the shot, so it works really well.”

FIFA 23 will be released on September 30, 2022 for PC, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Google Stadia.
