National Treasure: Teaser for the new Disney + series – without Nic Cage, menno
Legacy of the Knights Templar and Legacy of the Secret Book are getting a sequel – in the form of a Disney+ series. “National Treasure: Edge of History” is shown in a first teaser and behind-the-scenes material. But no trace of an actor: Nicolas Cage!
National Treasure (we call it the “legacy series”) was a short-lived film series about the hidden treasures of America’s founding history. Both films starred Nicolas Cage, accompanied by Diane Kruger and Justin Bartha. Since the second adventure blockbuster “The Legacy of the Secret Book” from 2007, however, it has been quiet – until now. Because a new teaser for Disney+ announces an upcoming series in the National Treasure universe.
National Treasure: Edge of History – first teaser
In the first teaser video there are small callbacks to the films, for example with Benjamin Franklin’s glasses, which revealed hidden messages. But if you’re waiting for Nicolas Cage, you’ll be disappointed: A new female character is introduced – who she is, you’re as smart as we are. In any case, the series should be running on Disney+ soon.

It’s also been announced behind the scenes that Justin Bartha (The Hangover series) will reprise his role from the legacy films. How his character dynamics (he was Nic Cage’s sidekick) will work on the show is still a mystery. Funnily enough, a behind-the-scenes video of the series reveals a lot more than the teaser above – for example, the characters of Catherine Zeta Jones and Harvey Keitel:
