Persona 5 Royal: Atlus asks Playstation players to pay twice – News

So far, the extensive JRPG Persona 5 – Royal available exclusively for the Playstation 4. As developer Atlus announced at the end of June 2022, this situation will change on October 21, 2022. On this day, the game will come to PC, Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and also to the PS5. While potential buyers on non-Sony consoles will of course have to pay full price, the question of upgrading the Lastgen version has been unresolved – until now.

The developers have provided clarity in an FAQ on the official Japanese website. And the owners of the PS4 version should not like that. Accordingly, there will be neither a paid nor a free upgrade to the PS5 version. In other words: If you want to play Persona 5 – Royal on the next-gen console, you have to buy it again.

Atlus does not explain why this is so. It is not yet known what new features the PS5 version will bring. It is possible that the frame rate will be increased to 60 frames per second and the Dualsense should also be integrated.
