In general, the role-playing game gives us a lot of freedom: there are always very different solutions to the quests and the combat system is flexible enough to allow for different tactics.

Code Vein – Trailer shows brutal Dark Souls gameplay in anime style
Code Vein lets us play a vampire in a post-apocalyptic world. In terms of play, the action role-playing game is reminiscent of Dark Souls, whereby we can use a considerable number of spells and firearms despite the focus on close combat. The progression system gives us total freedom to customize our character to suit our playstyle. Incidentally, we always go into battle in pairs, in single player the AI takes on the role of our companion. In addition to the gameplay, Code Vein also impresses with its atmospheric graphic style, which skilfully combines Gothic Horror with an anime look. However, the game world of Code Vein is not as mysterious and detailed as in the Souls games.

Persona 5 is one of the best, maybe even the best JRPG of the PS4 generation. We play a student in Tokyo who has the ability to penetrate the subconscious of the city dwellers via the so-called Metaverse. Despite the turn-based system, the battles play surprisingly quickly, which is due to the fact that each action type is assigned to a button. We not only fight our way through the Metaverse, but also have to master the typical everyday Japanese school life, which provides plenty of variety.

The story is rather secondary, the gameplay is clearly in focus. Here, The Ascent can score with its good gunplay and its variety of weapons and special abilities. Elaborate effects also ensure a high show value in the fights. There is also a motivating progression system. Valkyria Chronicles 4 – anime strategy game test video
In the round-robin tactics game Valkyria Chronicles 4 we take command of a small group of soldiers in a conflict that is fictional but strongly inspired by the Second World War and lead them into battle against superior enemy forces. The battles are very action-packed for the genre, since we control our soldiers individually on our moves like in a third person shooter and also take on the shooting ourselves. Like its predecessors, Valkyria Chronicles 4 also places great value on complex characters and a gripping and twisting story that is staged in a pretty anime style.
