Grand Theft Auto VI: First female main character playable according to the report

According to a recent report by Bloomberg, Grand Theft Auto VI will feature a female protagonist for the first time.

With Grand Theft Auto VI, Rockstar Games is already working on the next part of the hit game series. The expectations of the successor to the still very successful Grand Theft Auto V should weigh heavily on the developers’ shoulders.

As Bloomberg writes, Rockstar Games wants to reinvent itself as a kinder, gentler company today. Some employees are said to doubt whether the studio is still able to make games from the past that storm the charts. The atmosphere in the studio is now better than ever.

However, Grand Theft Auto VI could feel different than its predecessors, especially after the company’s realignment and the departure of Dan Houser in 2019.

Because in GTA VI a female main character should be playable for the first time. At least that’s what people around him said. The female character is Latina and is one of two main characters in a story inspired by legendary bank robbers Bonnie and Clyde.

Also interesting is the statement that the developers are careful not to joke about fringe groups.

About the location, it is said that parts of North and South America were previously intended to be included. The greatest GTA of all time was apparently the plan. But this probably didn’t work out.

“Project America”, the code name of the new part, is now supposed to include a fictional Miami, which is to be continuously expanded with missions and cities.

According to the publisher Take-Two Interactive, the game should appear in the 2024 financial year. This limits the release of the game to the period from April 2023 to March 2024. However, employees told Bloomberg that the game has been in development in some form since 2014 and that there is actually no fixed release date. The game is more likely at least two years away.
