Meta Quest 2: VR headset will soon be much more expensive
Hardware prices have risen sharply in recent years. Not least through scalpers who, for example, buy up the coveted PlayStation 5 consoles and then sell them at a higher price. Also, the lack of essential components made certain products quite hard to find, and graphics cards were also almost unaffordable for a while.
Quest 2: From now on without a Facebook account, but the price has increased
At least for the latter, the prices have normalized a bit again, thanks to numerous users who sell their used cards cheaply, and Nvidia itself also announced a price reduction. Unfortunately, this doesn’t affect all the hardware players want to own. The company Meta announced that their popular VR headset Quest 2 will increase in price.
Noisy UploadVR this statement was made specifically for the American market. From now on, the model with 128 gigabytes of memory will cost 399 US dollars, the version with 256 GB will cost 499 US dollars. Refurbished devices should also follow suit here, with 349 and 429 US dollars. The price increase is scheduled to take effect on August 1, 2022. Incidentally, at the same time, users no longer need to have a Facebook account to use the Quest 2 headset.
According to Meta, increased manufacturing costs are driving these new prices. After all, a digital copy of Beat Saber should be included with new devices from August 1st to December 31st. So far there is no information about a price increase for the German market, but it is quite likely that prices will also increase in this country. So if you want to buy a VR headset, you should probably do so this month.
