The end of a Twitch legend: Asmongold says goodbye to his cluttered room
Zack “Asmongold” is arguably the biggest MMORPG streamer on Twitch. He became known with WoW, but he also showed games like Final Fantasy XIV and Lost Ark. It’s been quiet around him lately as he’s been taking a little break. Now he’s getting back to his fans with a message – and clearing up a few things in the process.
Who is Asmongold?
You can watch more about Asmongold and its success story in the video:
Farewell to the legendary Chaos Room
That happened: On July 27, Asmon shocked fans on Twitter by posting before and after photos of his room. He cleaned his room for the first time in years.
This is what the room is all about: Among fans, the messy room is already a real meme. One fan even painstakingly recreated the chaos in Final Fantasy XIV—including the ubiquitous mugs (via Reddit).
Some old videos from 2018 and 2019 still exist, in which Asmongold cleans up his “cave” live in the stream (via YouTube). But since then he doesn’t seem to have done much in this regard.
What the fans say: The reactions on Twitter are very positive. Many express their support and happiness in the comments. Let him know you understand and how proud you are of him.
Vtuber ironmouse cheers on Asmongold:

Others cannot understand the excitement. Tidying up your room is completely normal. Some also scoff, the room is still dirty or even looked better before.
But laziness is not always behind it: For people who are going through a difficult time, even seemingly everyday tasks can become a great challenge. And the longer you put it off, the more unsolvable the problem can seem.
Many can probably identify with this, because the post has already received over 70,000 likes (as of July 28th, 2022).
Asmongold’s message to fans
This is behind the clean-up campaign: Asmongold’s streaming schedule is quite erratic at the moment, his last stream was on July 15th, just under 2 weeks ago. During this time, the Twitch star was not idle.
On July 25, he reached out to his fans via Twitter. In the post, he said his life has been spiraling out of control for almost a year now. But now he’s taking steps to get it under control again.
This probably also includes saying goodbye to the chaos. He thanked everyone who had contacted him. His message: “For the first time in a long time I’m okay.” Apparently something was wrong for a long time (via Twitter).
This is also supported by a tweet from July 17, in which he announced that he wanted to get his sleep rhythm back in order. Most of the time he only sleeps 4 hours a day and feels sick, but then still streams (via Twitter).
Much to the delight of fans, Asmongold also announced that he hadn’t had enough of streaming or was taking an extended break. He wants to get back to you with streams as soon as possible.
Other streamers need a break too. Twitch star Pokimane recently announced that he wanted to retire for an indefinite period: Twitch burns out one of his biggest streamers: “I need a mental reset”.
