According to internal Intel roadmaps: Unclear data on the launch of the Arc desktop GPUs

Actually, the time has now come for Intel to release the first generation of its newly launched Arc graphics card series, codenamed Alchemist, in the desktop sector after first covering the mobile sector. So far, some models have been presented to the public in places, such as the flagship A770 and the A750 in the limited editions as well as some time before the A380, which did not convince in tests (also from Germany).

As far as the Arc A770 and A750 are concerned, Intel has not yet made any concrete and, above all, official information on prices and release dates. Intel is said to have already confirmed last week that the first batches of Arc A750 Limited Edition graphics cards will be delivered to testers and media professionals, but precise information on the period was missing.

Leaker examines the release confusion with internal GPU roadmaps

The leaker “Moore’s Law is Dead” is currently on the trail of the backgrounds and wants to find out in a new video why the level of detail around the release of the Arc desktop GPUs is so meager. For this he has come into possession of internal GPU roadmaps from Intel, which are supposed to shed light into the darkness. These slides are said to have been presented by Intel’s graphics department about a month ago. A roadmap, for example, lists all models in the Arc Alchemist series, along with the release window. The launch is planned for early August. So this week should be high time for Intel to ship its GPUs to system integrators.

An AIC roadmap that specifically covers the Arc A380 is said to reveal that Intel doesn’t yet know when the custom models will appear. Apparently five models are planned, two of which are known so far (Gunnir and Asrock), while the others are Asus, MSI and possibly Gigabyte. Another slide is intended to show that Intel had planned to launch the A770, 750, 580 and 380 models for system integrators by the end of July. However, neither OEMs nor system integrators are said to have announced PCs with the built-in graphics cards. Only the A380 has already been discovered in a ready-made PC.

Another slide on the roadmap mentions “Desktop Launch: The Arc Experience,” which is said to be a global launch event, potentially taking place in early August. However, there is no official information from Intel on this either. Finally, the roadmap mentions a “story” for the Arc desktop series and Raptor Lake-S with the addition “not launch”, which in turn raises questions and allows the assumption that the release of the graphics cards will be postponed to September could become.

To make matters worse, Moore’s Law is Dead also claims to have learned that there are already difficulties with the Battlemage GPUs that are to follow Alchemist. All in all, there seem to be several inconsistencies in Intel’s graphics department that could be closely related to vague or missing communication with the board partners and the public.
