FIFA 23: After the trailer, fans are immediately demanding changes to Messi and Benzema

After the first two trailers for FIFA 23 introduced tons of new features and adjustments to the new offshoot of the series, fans noticed one thing that has nothing to do with the gameplay.

A few scenes featured superstars Lionel Messi and Karim Benzema and to the displeasure of fans, it seems that once again they haven’t received a gameface update and still look the same as in years past.

Visually, absolutely nothing has changed between the two superstars, even though the real versions of the star strikers have looked very different for years.

What exactly is the problem? Top stars such as cover star Mbappé, Haaland, Vinicius Jr., Grealish and many more look confusingly similar to their real role models in the trailer material. But Benzema and Messi, who will probably be among the best strikers again in FIFA 23, have worn the same face for years and just don’t seem to be aging.

This is particularly noticeable in the forwards’ facial hair. Messi hasn’t had a beard for about 2 years and Benzema has had a distinctive full beard for a long time, without which one can hardly imagine the French nowadays.

This is what the community says: Reddit user Daroku64 (via reddit) published a post venting his frustration at the outdated face scans of the top two players. He’s getting a lot of support from other FIFA fans who can’t believe that Messi and Benzema just don’t change.
