Pokémon GO: Limit for Pokéstop spins suddenly lower

The limit on how many times you can rotate Pokéstops photo discs in Pokémon GO is suddenly half what it used to be. This causes heated discussions within the community.

Is it a bug or a feature? Pokémon GO fans keep asking this question, which is also due to the developers’ sparse communication with their own community. This problem is particularly evident in the case of a change where nobody currently knows exactly whether it is intentional or not. As some hardcore trainers have noted, the limit on the maximum number of Pokéstops players can spin per day has apparently decreased.

600 instead of 1200 spins per day?

Typically, this limit is set at 1,200 spins per day – a number that most players never reach. But now fans on reddit and Twitter are increasingly reporting that this limit has been lowered and that they can turn the photo discs of the Pokéstops much less often than before:

Twitter user @bfhptpirate initially suspected that Niantic had lowered the limit from 1,200 spins to 600 spins without notice, but then concluded that it was more likely a bug. The limit varied, as other trainers reported on reddit. There, changing the limit was eagerly discussed.

While some users didn’t even know that there was a limit to the number of spins in Pokémon GO, others explained that a limit of 600 spins per day could pose a problem for them. A player named JackBlack1709, for example, wrote that he was out and about in Berlin seven to ten hours a day (apparently as a bicycle courier) and that he and three of his friends managed to get more than 600 spins in one day.
