Former Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk developers are working on new MMO that sounds like Destiny 2 with ninjas

The new studio Dark Passenger was founded by former developers of Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk. Now they want to make a ninja MMO that sounds like Destiny 2 on paper. We at MeinMMO summarize.

What kind of game is this? The project of the brand new studio is currently still nameless, but the plans for the ninja MMO are clear. It should playfully remind of a Destiny 2 in feudal Japan and focus on the concepts of parkour and stealth.

You can also freely customize your character, with which you roam the world, and make it your very own. In combat, the focus of the game is then, unlike Destiny, in close combat. Katanas, claws, spears and more should be used here and provide you with exciting melee duels in the Unreal Engine 5.

The core features of the MMO are as follows:

• First-person ninja battles
• The gameplay experience is designed to encourage both co-op aspects and rivalry
• It appears to be played in individual instances or rounds, each intended to feel different
• All players in such a round have the same goal, but thanks to procedural generation it should always be possible to achieve it differently
• It is not yet clear whether there will be an open world or hub areas apart from these matches
• Housing in the form of your own dojo, to which you can invite your friends
• Stealth is the focus and melee weapons to choose from if sneaking fails
• PvP and PvE
• The “Locomotion” system, which is intended to provide parkour and breathtaking movement possibilities. So you can even run on arrows shot by other players
• Different weather like rain, fog and dust clouds
• Various NPCs that accompany the story

What is the story about? Many details are not yet known. The only thing that is certain is that you will take on the role of a shinobi or kunoichi assassin and will explore feudal Japan. It is important to find out what the dark opponent is up to.

He invaded the country and seized power. In order to be able to reclaim your beloved homeland, you need artifacts that harbor an extraordinary amount of power. So it’s probably a matter of finding them. However, not much more is known at this time.

Who makes the game? The newly founded studio Dark Passanger is based in Warsaw, as is the Witcher maker CD Projekt.

The team is made up of people who mainly did animation and CGI for Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077. The game thus joins a whole series of new projects from former Witcher developers (via GameStar).

Among them are developers Jakub Ben and Marcin Michalski, both of whom worked on the Witcher 3 art team. The studio in Poland is currently looking for additional developers to complete their ninja vision.

It is particularly noticeable that the studio allows its developers to share in the income from game sales. 10% of sales revenue goes back to the team.

What platforms is the game coming for? Even though Dark Passenger’s ninja MMO doesn’t have a name yet, we already know which platforms you’ll be able to play the game on. The developers confirm on their website that it will be released for Steam, Epic, PS5 and Xbox Series.

When the game will actually come out is still unclear. Based on the numerous and important job advertisements, and therefore still open positions, we should not assume a timely release.
