Star Wars: This Happened to the “Female Yoda” Yaddle

At the end of the year, the Star Wars series Tales of the Jedi will appear on Disney Plus. A new plot leak hints at the whereabouts of a missing Jedi Master from Star Wars: Episode 1 – The Phantom Menace. With the purchase of Lucasfilm for US$4 billion, Disney decided to void the Expanded Universe and establish their own universe. According to Insidethemagic.net, there is a major shift in canon that is causing Disney to break with its own continuity. The site claims it has seen footage from the new series that features a supporting character in the universe created by George Lucas. This is already causing a lot of discussion there.

What happened to Yaddle after Episode 1?

Newly recruited by Emperor Palpatine, ex-Jedi Master Count Dooku heads to Genosha and brutally murders Yaddle, according to Kyle Burlingame on Insidethemagic.net. This female version of Yoda left the Jedi Council in The Phantom Menace before the Clone Wars began.

Her fate has never been officially determined and it is suspected that she may have been murdered by Darth Vader. However, there are hints in the Darth Vader comics and the game Jedi: Fallen Order published by Electronic Arts that she may have survived the Clone Wars.

What does this mean for Disney canon?

Both references to the Jedi Master can be interpreted in such a way that Disney does not break its own canon, as was already the case with The Mandalorian or the Obi Wan Kenobi series.

However, there are already rumors online that EK Johnston’s Ahsoka novel is no longer canon. That shows Disney is willing to change course if books or comics don’t go well with animated or live-action series.
