PS5: awards feature will disappear soon
What are awards on the PS5 anyway? Actually, the idea was pretty nice: If you play online with the PS5 against or with other players, they have the opportunity to rate the clash. So if you play the good gamer, play fair or have your teammates’ backs free, other players can do the same with the four different awards “Helpful”, “Friendly”, “Fair Player” and “Leader” let know. An actually commendable system that gamers should know in a similar form from games like Overwatch.
Where do you see awards on the PS5? If you are now wondering whether you may have received awards on the PS5 unnoticed, you can easily get to the bottom of it. For a short check, you can currently follow these steps until the PS5 awards are switched off in autumn:
- Open PS5 profile by clicking on your profile picture in the home screen or in the control center
- The awards can be selected here
- Now you can see which awards you have received so far
Why have many never heard of the PS5 awards? The big problem with the awards, and now probably the reason for their disappearance, is the poor integration of the feature in multiplayer games. In fact, there are only awards in a few select PS5 titles. So it’s possible that you’re constantly hanging around online on the PS5, but have simply never played a game with awards on your own console. Sony probably saw this situation as unacceptable and worth striving for. The number of accesses to the service is too low, so awards on the PS5 will be removed in autumn.
Meanwhile, Sony is also struggling with the current number of players on the PS5. The playing time is said to have decreased by a full 15 percent compared to the previous year. At the same time, there is a price increase for the PS5, which Sony has not wanted to comment on so far.
