Hunt: Showdown: The snakes are loose!

Hunt: Showdown: The snakes are loose!

A new event, evocatively named Serpent Moon, makes the dangerous bayou even more unsafe. But there are also many new rewards waiting for players who don’t let the plague intimidate them.

MitHunt: Showdown (from 16.86 at buy) developer Crytek has made a big splash. There is arguably no other multiplayer first-person shooter that gets players’ blood pumping more violently. There isn’t a new map or another final boss, but the live event Serpent Moon should also provide a lot of variety in the hotly contested swamps.

Why snakes?

Running for 60 days through September 25th, the live event will bring a supernatural plague of snakes to the bayou. The deadly reptiles appear in caves throughout the bayou, players must capture them and sacrifice them on altars. This is dangerous because the snakes will attack the hunters if they make too much noise. The players now have to make a decision: plunder and sacrifice the snakes in a lavish manner, and thus get a lot of event points and bigger rewards, or simply kill the beasts one after the other in the flow, but hunt fewer points per reptile this way.

Hunters can equip three new, very useful event skills. Animal Mask reduces the snakes’ range of action and allows players to get closer. Snake increases the distance at which snakes can be sacrificed, and Poison Sense identifies nearby poisoned players when using shadow vision.

Players are also rewarded for investigating special tracks and rifts, as well as defeating particularly powerful bosses. Weapons and Blood Tokens are just some of the rewards up for grabs during the event. Story-wise, Serpent Moon continues the story of the previous live event, Traitor’s Moon.

Audio books and a new hunter

As the events in the bayou unfold during the event, audio books will be released on popular streaming platforms and The Hunt: Showdown social media channels to allow fans to experience the story outside of the actual game. All players participating in the Serpent Moon event can play with a new legendary hunter, the Viper. For the first time in Hunt, this character will visually evolve through various stages as players progress through the game.

The number of stages the viper goes through depends on the path the player chooses. A new Battle Pass system – The Glorious Path – allows players to choose between a free, standard and premium path. The free option offers two levels, as well as an opportunity to earn weapons and blood counters during the event. The standard Battle Pass for the Glorious Path offers all the free tier content, four evolution levels, more unlockable weapons and rewards, and bloodmark cashback.

The premium tier offers all the content of the standard option plus 3000 event points to speed up progression.

Two new weapons for all participants

Regardless of which path players choose, they are guaranteed to receive two new weapons: the Romero 77 Alamo Coluber shotgun and the Snakeshot Sparks pistol. All players can earn up to 11 rewards during the 60 Days of Serpent Moon. There are boosters, blood tokens and weapons up for grabs including the Antosha Caldwell Conversion chain pistol and the Lucidus Vetterli 71 carbine silencer.

Players who choose the Glorious Path for the Standard and Premium Battle Pass can unlock an additional 17 rewards, including the new antidote shot, Snake Oil Guard, and the Winfield M1873 Swift rifle, Slither.
