LucidSound LS10X gaming headset review – The right choice for a small budget?

LucidSound LS10X gaming headset review - The right choice for a small budget?

As expected, no comparison to LucidSound’s premium headsets, but it offers good quality for the price of around 50 euros.

The LS10X isn’t my first encounter with LucidSound, but it’s a different one. In the past I have already looked at the LS35X and LS50X, which are more aimed at the premium market with prices of around 200 euros and more. The LS10X is in a completely different league with its price of around 40 to 50 euros. A quality shock compared to the other devices?

Well, it goes without saying that at this price you can’t expect comparable quality to the higher-priced models. Although the LS10X fares far from badly for what it ultimately is. Let’s start with the quality of the materials. The headset is mostly made of plastic, which is not surprising. Does everything feel okay? Obviously not as valuable as the more expensive headsets, but not either to cheap.

Light and comfortable but not too squish

It has the advantage that the headset is quite light overall and therefore comfortable to wear over the long term. Just don’t put too much pressure on it. Not that I’ve tested it, but I don’t think it can withstand too much strain if you squeeze it tightly somewhere in your luggage. That should definitely be sufficient for non-extraordinary use.

No premium price, so you can expect as good as only plastic.

On the left ear cup you can control the volume and, if you press it, mute the microphone. This detachable microphone in turn shows you with an LED on the top whether it is currently active or not. Otherwise it was largely with external features. You can still swap the “speaker tags” on the outside of the ear cups, but it’s more of an optical gimmick than having any meaningful use.

The LS10X is connected using a 3.5mm cable. It is 1.2 meters long and provides a connection to all kinds of devices that have a corresponding 3.5mm jack. Furthermore, the LS10X is an over-ear headset with 50mm drivers that covers the usual frequency range of 20 to 20,000 Hz.

The sound of the LS10X sounds good

The good news is that the LS10X doesn’t do badly when it comes to sound quality either. Of course, you should keep your expectations in check, because this is by no means a competitor for the premium sector. Nevertheless, for the money you get, you get good quality. The balance is quite good overall and the headset also has a lot to offer in terms of bass, although it lacks a bit of depth in some situations. And it just about gets the curve before the bass drifts into unsightly areas. But at least he gets this curve. Otherwise, you can make out details in films, games and music equally well. In short: nothing that flatters your ears like a headset that costs several hundred euros. But vice versa nothing that makes your ears bleed.

The LED on the microphone indicates whether you are muted or not.

Almost as expected, the external shielding isn’t the best either. People around you get what you’re listening to, watching, or playing, but it’s not on an annoying level. Conversely, you won’t hear any complaints either way, the shielding against noise around you works better. The microphone is also of reasonable quality for the price. Nothing earth-shattering, but you’re definitely easy to understand.

LucidSound LS10X Review – Conclusion

Headsets cover a wide spectrum and once you’ve enjoyed high-quality ones, it’s all too easy to forget what the cheaper models can and can’t do. Yes, of course you can tell the difference between an LS10X and a headset for a few hundred bucks, but that’s not surprising. For the money offered, LucidSound delivers a reasonable build quality, good sound and comfort with the LS10X. Not a bad choice in this price range.
