Customer satisfaction at Deutsche Post continued to fall in the first half of 2022. The number of complaints increased by 16 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, while the number of reasons for the complaint increased at the same time. Most of the complaints were made for the Post in the area of ​​letter delivery: Here the corresponding value increased by 68 percent.

The Federal Network Agency recently “Consumer Radar” for the first half of 2022 issued. This shows that customer complaints about Deutsche Post have increased compared to the same period last year. The number of complaints increased by 16 percent to a total of 8,921 (7,663), while the reasons for the complaint rose by 12 percent to 14,760. Citizens of the city states of Berlin and Hamburg vented their anger most frequently. There were 2.95 and 1.88 complaints per 10,000 inhabitants respectively. The situation was most relaxed in Saxony-Anhalt (0.42) and Saarland (0.59).

Bad reports for postmen

While complaints about parcel delivery fell by 25 percent to a total of 5,128 in the first half of 2022, they increased for the first time since 2019 when it came to letter delivery. According to the Federal Network Agency, 6,757 consumers complained about defective or missing delivery – that is 68 percent more than in 2021. Nevertheless, the number of arbitration requests was declining; and so the arbitration board mediated in 24 percent fewer cases (1,520) this year than in the same period last year.

Last year already drew Government figures a bad picture of Deutsche Post. According to this, in the third quarter of 2020 only 85.4 percent of the shipments were delivered on the next working day – in 2011 this value was still 93.7 percent. Swiss Post justified this development with the COVID-19 pandemic. Anyone who is concerned about the delivery of their letters given the latest figures should be advised Post tip from 2019: If you want your letter to arrive, you should send it by registered mail – that costs an additional 2.65 euros.
