WoW: Season 4 – Grimrail Depot in Mythic Plus Guide (Patch 9.2.5)
In the 4th season of WoW: Shadowlands, the developers are experimenting a lot. Why not? The upcoming expansion Dragonflight is still a while away and there will be no more content in the shadow lands. Instead, in addition to the Fateful Raids, we also get a new selection of old, new Mythic-Plus dungeons. These old instances were simply scaled up, polished up a bit and should keep us busy for a few weeks now. One of these dungeons is the Grimgleisdepot from WoD. We want to refresh your knowledge about the instance in a short guide so that you don’t have to experience unnecessary wipes. But we’ll leave it at a rough overview and won’t go into detail about every trash mob or route combination.
The Grimrail Depot in Mythic-Plus (Patch 9.2.5)
The Grimmgleisdepot is fondly remembered by every player who has ever set foot in it. Of course, there have been a lot of cool dungeons in WoW’s long history. But one that takes place on a moving train? What was funny back then could soon turn out to be an absolute nightmare. Blizzard has taken precautions in some places and placed an NPC and a potion in the train for players who have problems with motion sickness, which turns off the animations and turns the moving train into a stationary one. Elsewhere, however, there was precious little they could do. Grimrail Depot becomes one of the hardest dungeons of all, depending on the affix. Just imagine the bloody puddles in the narrow corridors, or the chasing ghosts of the spiteful affix. On the other hand, the mechanics are quite manageable and with only three bosses, you’ll be through quickly.
Pull gently
The first part of the dungeon doesn’t take place on the train, but in a way in the station. You gradually fight your way between crates and transport goods in the direction of the first boss. Even if your fingers are itching to pull a lot of opponents at once, you should only do this in a well-rehearsed group. Because there are two abilities of the trash opponents that can mess up your run right at the beginning. It is very important to interrupt the engineers at the Grimgrail Depot.
Either 50,000 VOLTSas well as ACTIVATION are very dangerous. The former stuns a player, while the latter activates one of the surrounding Iron Stars. This then rolls a few meters and explodes in massive area damage – depending on the keystone level a safe wipe.
If you work well coordinated with stuns and interrupts, you can pull multiple groups together. Normally, however, we strongly advise you to proceed slowly and safely. Because even if you are quickly back on the spot in the event of death, you still get the penalty seconds.
The first boss is waiting for you at the end of the warehouse. Actually there are two bosses that you have to fight at the same time. The combat itself is relatively simple and easy to understand. However, above all, your tank must be on the ball. Because a single mistake will quickly lead you to the spirit healer. You should also make sure that the two bosses die at the same time as possible. But more on that in a moment.

Rocket Sparks constantly covers the entire combat area with rocket salvos, which you can easily dodge. From time to time he changes position by jumping onto another box. Then he uses his most dangerous ability, causing steadily increasing splash damage. Sooner or later this one will surely kill you. So you have to interrupt him. Unfortunately you can’t do this yourself, you have to use an ability of the other boss.
Borka keeps causing per Smash AoE damage and interrupts you in the process. He also hits the tank like a sledgehammer. His most important skill is FAST SPRINT. As he does so, he charges straight ahead, damaging and interrupting all players hit. Your tank’s job is to always position Borka so that he’s facing rocket sparks. If Borka then rushes forward, the tank will dodge and the boss will hit his partner. This interrupts the area damage and the game starts over.

Your decision
If Borka dies, you can no longer interrupt rocket sparks, which would be bad. When Rocket Spark dies, Borka goes into a frenzy, dealing 50 percent more damage and hitting 25 percent harder. That would also be bad, but it is survivable. You now have to decide whether you prefer to beat the bosses evenly and play with all the mechanics to the end, or first kill Rocket Spark and then calmly kill Borka. If your tank is well equipped, then the latter is a solid option. Normally, however, you should rather kill them at the same time so as not to make it unnecessarily difficult for your healer.

We take the train
Then we fight our way up and jump on the train. Warning: the door above will not open until the mobs on the stairs are dead. If you have problems with the fight on the narrow path, pull the opponents out below. Arrived on the train, it is now hard. Again, you should pull carefully, because there are two types of opponents with wipe potential.

The Grom’kar Archer fires hers SHRAPNELLE EXPLOSION towards the tank. This flamethrower deals immense damage. So no one should stand by the tank and they should dodge it if possible. The Grom’kar Tinder Keeper, on the other hand, also assigns ranged fighters or healers LAVA WREATH. A fire area appears around the player. If it hits another player, they take damage and the bearer of the fire surface is silenced. The more players hit, the longer the silence lasts and the more damage everyone takes. So you should stand as spread out as possible in the narrow train. Under no circumstances should you stand by the tank and the melee – that would be almost an instant wipe. You can almost ignore the infantrymen, on the other hand, they don’t have any skills.
The beginning of the fight is relatively relaxed and unspectacular. Stand a little spread out so that you can see the area damage from BLACK ROCK MORSER and BLACK ROCK GRENADE less and beats Nitrogg to 60 percent. Then he ducks into his cannon and the real fight begins. Your tank now collects the recurring adds all the time, while the DpS are killing them. You are still spread out. Once the boss in his cannon BARRIER works, you all have to hide behind one of the pillars. Otherwise you are almost impossible to save.

Shoot bosses with cannons
In addition to the adds, your main task is actually to destroy the boss’s cannon. You could just bash it now, but that would be pretty ineffective. It’s much easier if you pick up the bombs from dead enemies. The corpses glow yellow and you can click on them. Afterwards you climb into one of the many cannons yourself and give the Iron Horde some of their own medicine. Depending on which opponent you have “looted”, you will have access to one of two attacks.

With Homing Grenade, without aiming, fire a few projectiles at the boss’s cannon. If you do this often enough, it will be destroyed and the phase will end. With Shrapnel Cannon, on the other hand, your cannon fires in a straight line forward. You use this attack to decimate the hordes of adds that descend on you in the course of the fight. Your tank should therefore always stay close to the cannons with the mobs while avoiding all the fire surfaces.
If you have destroyed the boss’s cannon, he will come out again and you do the same as in phase 1. Stand distributed, dodge the impacts and knock out the boss. Oh yes, it should go without saying that you shouldn’t fall off the train because you would die otherwise.

We then continue to work our way forward. We pay particular attention to the scouts of the Grimm track. These work ARCANE LIGHTNING, which you can only interrupt with a stun. If the spell gets through, an arcane puddle is created under a player from which you have to get out quickly because it causes enormous damage. Also, do not attack Grom’kar Farseers when they are STORM SHIELD have on you. However, you can interrupt the spell they are using to apply the buff if you react quickly enough. Dodge the areas of fire on the ground and you are faced with the final boss of the dungeon.
Tovra jumps off her dragon, then all you have to do is defeat her. The whole fight revolves around dodging various abilities. Quickly move away from the traps placed on the ground under a player FROSTY SLOWDOWN, so you don’t get frozen in place. Becomes a player of TWIRLING SPEAR targeted, then everyone else should not stand between him and the boss to keep the damage to a minimum. Occasionally, players are also included MARK OF THE HUNTER targeted. Shortly thereafter, an explosion appears at this position, in which no one should stand. All players (including the targeted one) run away from the point of impact.

Last but not least you have to avoid the blue areas on the ground. These become more and more in the course of the fight, since the dragon with each overflight THUNDER BREATH Deals some damage and makes additional areas inaccessible. As more and more areas are covered with it, you’ll soon run out of room to continue fighting. So you shouldn’t take too much time with the boss.
