Overwatch 2 will not get another public beta before launch

There won’t be another public beta before Overwatch 2 launches in two months.

Blizzard’s Jon Spector confirmed this on Twitter, responding to inquiries from fans about further test phases in advance.

Into Early Access without further beta

“While we will continue to test OW2 internally on a daily basis, we do not plan on further public beta testing,” writes Spector. “With all the valuable feedback we’ve received from our alpha and the two public beta tests, we will focus on releasing the best game possible on October 4th.”

On the other hand, the Early Access, in which Overwatch 2 starts on October 4th, could also be seen as a kind of beta. Since the game is a free-to-play title, you don’t have to pay anything to play it either.

More Overwatch 2 news:

The first beta of Overwatch 2 was only available on the PC, the second beta also on the PC and also on the consoles including cross-play.

However, fans do not react quite so positively to this news, especially the lack of an open beta is criticized.

The reactions are similar on Twitter and Reddit, including the lack of new features for support heroes in previous betas.

how do you see it? Would you welcome another beta, or do you think Blizzard should take care of everything else after the Early Access launch?
