Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin – Current-Gen Reboot In-Game Trailer

Dark Souls 2 appeared for the first time in 2014, after Demon’s Souls and Dark Souls. It originally came out for the PS3 and Xbox One. For example, fans of the game will appreciate the atmosphere, which is a little different from its predecessors and less gloomy, but very mysterious. Especially the hub, the village of Majula with its catchy soundtrack, is well received.

More from the FromSoftware universe:

The Scholar of the First Sin Edition was submitted in 2015 and brought the game to the next generation of consoles, but also appeared for the old consoles. There have been some graphical improvements, such as lighting, particle effects, and textures. In addition, the revised version on the PS4 delivers what Bloodborne fans have so far wished for in vain, namely 60 fps.

But the innovations are not just limited to graphics and frame rates. Something has also happened with the opponent placements to create “brand new challenges”, as the store text says. In addition, the version of the game includes all DLCs.

I won’t deny it: Dark Souls 2 is a difficult topic for me. I got into the Soulsbornes relatively late, in 2016, and after several iterations in Dark Souls 3 and Bloodborne, I ventured into Scholar of the First Sin.

Especially after Bloodborne, where I really liked the fast offensive gameplay, I had a really hard time with Dark Souls 2. The game seemed sluggish to me in comparison and I got along with it poise system just not very clear. At some point I became so aggressive while gambling that I stopped playing the game. I think that’s a shame because I like the atmosphere and I really enjoy watching All Bosses speedruns (though mostly in the vanilla version).

To this day I haven’t ventured back into it, preferring other From titles instead. But actually I can’t let it sit on me. Scholar – Someday I’ll get you!

Do you still have some catching up to do when it comes to FromSoftware titles? Will you get Scholar from the PS Store?
