Had a rough time with Elden Ring? It could have been your choice of clothes

A new major patch has been released for Elden Ring. There is a fun fact in the patch notes, but those who suffered from it probably don’t find this fact that funny at all. Until now, you could accidentally make life difficult for yourself by throwing on a certain dress. However, the update puts an end to this unintentional hard mode.

Dress made life difficult for you

It’s all about this: The deathbed dress doesn’t actually seem like it at all, but seems like a pretty noticeable fumble in the in-between. Up to now, it was easier for enemies to notice who was wearing it – and even crouching and sneaking around didn’t help. We can see that in the patch notes for the update to version 1.06.

And that’s not all. The “extremely thin and transparent white dress”, as it says in the item description, had another evil effect: when worn, charged flail attacks damaged your friends in co-op. In fact, the garment should do just the opposite. According to the description, it slowly regenerates HP from allies.

It’s not a feature, it’s a bug: With FromSoftware it would be quite conceivable that the dress comes with “side effects” on purpose and these are based on the lore. After all, Fia, the deathbed companion, gives us a debuff when she hugs us. However, the hard mode via dress is an accident, because the elimination of the error is listed under “Bug Fixes”.

More on Elden Ring:

By the way, the description of the clothes reads extremely scary. There it is revealed that the fabric is so thin and soft that even mummies cannot be damaged. The task of the companion, as the name suggests, is to lie down with the deceased and share her warmth with them.

What do you think of this story? Have you slipped into the nasty dress during your gameplay?
