Have you played through Elden Ring and tasted blood? Or maybe you’re already a die-hard Souls fan looking for a cool title for the Switch? Then The Last Faith should interest you. The retro-styled Metroidvania is brimming with Bloodborne vibes, and it’s coming to all other major platforms as well.

Cool Bloodborne alternative for the Switch

It’s all about this: the The Last Faith Steam page describes the title as an “unholy alliance of Metroidvania and Soulslike”. Tombstones, abandoned carriages, entwined tree trunks, villas with wooden wall panels and thunderstorms – our path in this game leads through gloomy levels in which we have to face a variety of nasty enemies.

The trailers feature werewolf-like monsters, vampires, of course mutated dogs, and human enemies reminiscent of the hunters from Bloodborne. But what would a Soulslike be without huge bosses? We also get a little foretaste of these. Would you like an oversized bat or a multi-headed snake?

In order to make short work of the wild pack, we have a wide arsenal of melee weapons, firearms and arcane spells at our disposal. It gets bloody to the point. During the executions, wings are sometimes torn out, so that the red soup just squirts.

More on Soulslikes:

Then there is the platforming aspect. We’ll have to jump over chasms, paying attention to our timing to avoid colliding with traps and pulling ourselves up on heels. Exploration should also play an important role in the chic pixel game.

The Last Faith is slated for release in 2022 for Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series and PC. The project was funded via Kickstarter.

Samara Summer

I think I’ve mentioned a few times that I love Bloodborne and just can’t get enough of the game. In addition, I’m not averse to pretty retro graphics, since I played in the 90s and I immediately feel nostalgic.

I’m particularly interested in The Last Faith for the Switch. I only own the Switch Lite as an outdoor and on-the-go console, and I’m always on the lookout for titles that work well in handheld mode. That’s why this Soulslike is reserved for me directly for the purpose.

How do you like The Last Faith at first sight? Are you up for the game?
