FIFA 23 gets new chemistry system and FUT mode for more rewards

Alexander-Arnold and Henderson can now improve your club’s FUT chemistry even if they’re not playing side-by-side.

Since July we have been able to tell you bit by bit what new features FIFA 23 has to offer. Finally, FUT is probably the most important mode for EA Sports, which also comes with two of the biggest changes compared to its predecessor. This year, on the one hand, the chemistry system will be completely turned upside down, on the other hand, so-called FUT Moments should provide more variety and rewards.

Position links are a thing of the past

To get your Ultimate Team in top shape, green positional links have been a hugely important tool for success for many years. EA now throws this completely overboard in FIFA 23 and from now on calculates the team chemistry with all players who are on the field.

An example from the Bundesliga: While Bayern’s Alphonso Davies and Benjamin Pavard used to not be able to develop chemistry as left and right defenders because they don’t play directly next to each other, this is now possible. The decisive factor is that they play in the same team at Bayern Munich, which has a positive effect on the chemistry.

• The full field is now included in the calculation of player chemistry and chemistry for your Ultimate Team.
• Player chemistry is now represented by three dots, with 3/3 being the best for a player.
• Players are minimum as good as their base stats, can’t go negative anymore.

Advantage for the FUT Icons: If you have a legend like Zidane, Cruyff or Beckham in your team, their chemistry value is always at maximum – provided they play in the right position.

FUT Moments for more variety

The second major innovation for the Ultimate Team mode are the so-called FUT Moments, in which you replay certain match scenarios and receive rewards for successful completion.

For example, you play the professional debut of a superstar and have to provide the assist for the decisive goal in the 88th minute. If you fail, you can repeat the respective scenario as often as you like.

Crossplay for FUT

We have already told you that there is crossplay in FIFA 23 for the first time under certain conditions. For FUT players, there is now the information that you can play FUT Rivals, FUT Friendlies, FUT Champions, FUT Play a Friend and the FUT Online Draft cross-platform. Provided you are on the same generation of consoles (example: PS5 and Xbox Series X/S).

Improved stadium customization is coming

Since FIFA 21 we can customize our Ultimate Team’s home stadium. This year, too, there will be new customization options such as animated banners, tifos, new (flood) lights or, for example, Halloween themes.
