… 2009: AMD launches the Phenom II X4 965 BE. The quad-core processor clocking at 3.4 gigahertz has a free multiplier for easier overclocking as a Black Edition. This, together with the very good performance and the low price, makes it very popular among gamers. Its high TDP of 140 watts, caused by the 1.4 volts that our test sample also had, will only be lowered in the C3 revision that will appear later.
