  • a smartphone, tablet or computer with a WLAN connection (no LAN connection)
  • a 2.4 GHz WLAN within range (5 GHz networks are not supported)
  • the access data for the WLAN

Go on:

  1. If you don’t have a Tonie account yet, go to https://meine.tonies.de/setup and create a user account. Alternatively you can myTonies smartphone app use.
  2. Confirm your email address as requested in the registration process.

  5. Start the setup process on your smartphone, tablet or computer.
  6. Enter the Toniebox ID. You can find this on the bottom of your box. It’s a combination of letters and numbers. It doesn’t matter whether you enter them with the underscores or without them.
  7. When prompted to establish the WiFi connection, press both ears of the Toniebox until you hear a signal and the LED flashes blue.
  8. The flashing turns into a pulsing after a short time. If this is the case, switch to your smartphone, tablet or computer to give your Toniebox a name.

Problems with the Toniebox? This is how you can solve them

The WiFi connection doesn’t work? Check the following points:

  • 2.4 GHz network: The Toniebox only supports wireless networks with 2.4 GHz. This means: If you use your router in the 5 GHz frequency band, the setup will not work. Activate the 2.4 GHz network in the router settings so that your router can find the Toniebox.
  • No connection to the Toniebox: To set up the WLAN, you establish a direct connection between the Toniebox and your smartphone, tablet or PC. This only works via WiFi. So make sure that your laptop or computer is not connected to the router via Ethernet (LAN). In addition, the Toniebox must be in connection mode for the WLAN setup (press both ears until the LED flashes blue).
  • Radio Interference: If the WLAN connection is slow or keeps dropping out, this may be due to radio interference from other devices. Baby monitors, cordless phones, WiFi repeaters and wireless surveillance cameras can interfere with transmission. Move your Toniebox to a different location or change the router’s radio channel to reduce the problems. Recommended channels are 1, 6 and 11.
  • General tip: In the event of problems, it often helps to restart the Toniebox. To do this, turn the Toniebox without a charging station over, press both ears for ten seconds and wait until you hear a beep. The Toniebox then restarts.
