Gamescom 2022: Keighley promises cool and unexpected surprises

Geoff Keighley promises some cool and unexpected surprises for Gamescom 2022’s Opening Night Live event.

Geoff Keighley promises some cool surprises and things people wouldn’t expect for the upcoming Gamescom 2022 Opening Night Live. These include a whole host of new games, including games that have yet to be shown during the Summer Game Fest:

“More than 20 games will be represented on the stage: it will be a great spectacle. We have some very cool guests coming to Germany to join us on stage to unveil their games and showcase new content.”

“We have a mix of previously announced games and a whole bunch of new ones.”

“We have some good stuff. We haven’t really announced the lineup of companies that will be there, but I think we have some cool surprises and things that I don’t think people would expect to be represented. There are many games. We have 2 hours of content full of gameplay clips, trailers and announcements.”

“There are fewer releases towards the end of this year, so a lot will be about what comes out in 2023 and beyond. But yeah, I think people are going to be excited and I’m really looking forward to fans being able to see this stuff live.”

In addition to the new game from the Subnautica makers, the upcoming horror title The Callisto Protocol, the open-world adventure Sonic Frontiers and the first gameplay scenes from Goat Simulator 3 have been confirmed for the show. Until the start of the event, Keighley intends to announce further games in the line-up every day.

The Opening Night Live starts on August 23 at 8:00 p.m. and will be accompanied this year for the first time by the German Gamestar presenter Natascha Becker in addition to Keighley.
