AMD Adrenalin 22.8.1: New Radeon driver fixes flickering and prepares for Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered

from Benjamin Grundken
With the Adrenalin Edition 22.8.1, AMD has released a new graphics card driver for its Radeon portfolio. Among other things, the new driver version fixes a flickering that could occur with certain GPUs such as the Radeon RX 6700 XT. It has also been optimized for Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered.

AMD has released the Adrenalin 22.8.1. The new graphics card driver optimizes current Radeon GPUs such as the RX 6000 series for Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered and Thymesia and the Radeon Boost with variable rate shading for Halo Infinite. Enhanced Sync has also been optimized to improve stability and the overall experience.

On the bug fix side, AMD names six resolved issues. Black flickering could be noticeable with graphics cards such as the Radeon RX 6700 XT when switching between video playback and gameplay. Another fixed bug concerns Project Zomboid – here the video output could freeze. In addition, games based on the LOVE2D engine should no longer be rendered incorrectly, Stormworks: Build and Rescue should no longer crash when started and mixed reality headsets should work more cleanly. Black flickering could occur with certain GPUs such as the Radeon RX 6800 XT. Last but not least, the Americans addressed a bug related to Enhanced Sync. We’re talking about a system crash while playing video playback on additional monitors.

AMD Adrenaline 22.8.1: Other problems known, but still without solution

Unfortunately, the chip developer has not yet eliminated all problems. It can stutter when playing Call of Duty: Warzone on the Caldera map with some AMD graphics products such as the Radeon RX 6900 XT. In connection with Fortnite and the DirectX 11 API, a similar problem is possible when starting the game for the first time, for example when using the Radeon RX 6950 XT. Radeon Super Resolution may not fire after changing resolution or HDR settings in games like Nioh 2.

After changing the display settings, but also after viewing the character information, it is still possible that Lost Ark flickers. There is also talk of display problems with the Oculus Quest 2 in connection with the Oculus Dashboard menu and the rendered controller. A bug related to DaVinci Resolve Studio 17 may also be relevant for content creators: AMD reported a possible crash with products such as the Radeon RX 6900 XT using the AMD encoder.

“Enhanced Sync may cause a black screen on some games and system configurations when enabled. Any users experiencing issues with Enhanced Sync enabled should disable it as a temporary workaround.” Find more details and download for Windows 10 and 11 Visit AMD’s official website.
