Troll accuses innocent Twitch streamer of being a pedophile: ‘Many people immediately believed it’

British Twitch streamer SVB is considered an excellent Overwatch player and has earned a good reputation in the Blizzard shooter community. But an internet troll now wanted to destroy this reputation. He claimed the streamer demanded nude photos of underage girls. The streamer says that even though the allegations were completely unfounded, people online immediately outraged him.

Where is the information from? In a YouTube video, Overwatch streamer SVB explains the difficult situation he has been in for a few hours over the past few days. The video reads: “An internet prank nearly ruined my life. (via youtube)”

Troll pretends to be a 17-year-old girl

These were the allegations: The streamer says a Twitter account by the name of “Niaplaysow” confronted him with harsh allegations on Thursday, August 11. The Twitter account impersonated a black 17-year-old girl. The account accused SVB:

• To “groom” underage girls, i.e. to seek contact with them in order to later seduce them into sexual acts
• Asking underage girls for nude pictures
• She claimed he demanded those pictures from her

To lend more credibility to these allegations, the troll faked screenshots of Discord messages.

Those were the reactions: The streamer says a lot of people tried to “cancel” it, even if he loathes the word.

Many people immediately believed the allegations. They called me a pedophile and called me things I don’t want to repeat.

The internet troll

According to the SVB, people told him that the troll was a 14-year-old boy. SV says:

This person pulled off their prank and then deleted all social media accounts never to be seen again, thereby escaping any consequences for their actions.

Streamer definitely doesn’t want the credibility of real women to be undermined

SVB says: The situation is extremely uncomfortable for him. Above all, he wants to make it clear that his case should not now be used as an example to dismiss any such allegation as false:

I want to make one thing clear: Please do not use what happened to me as an excuse to undermine or cast doubt on the credibility of any real victims of grooming or sexual assault. There’s no way I want this to be my legacy.

He says: Normally, real women would almost never lie about such things. Because it is difficult for them to dare to go public with such allegations.

But in his case it wasn’t a real woman, it was a fake account. But what saddened SVB was that nobody really bothered to question whether or not the allegations came from a fake account.
