WoW Fan Shows How Awesome Glyphs Could Be – Everyone Says “Hire him, Blizzard!”
Glyph customization in World of Warcraft is pretty neglected. But one fan has such great ideas that players want to see him at Blizzard.
Glyphs in World of Warcraft have undergone several major transformations. Having gone through actual gameplay changes in their first variation, they are now purely cosmetic adjustments. They ensure that spells and abilities have different visual effects and thus offer a slightly more individual look for different skills.
However, many feel that glyphs don’t go far enough and need significantly more variety. So does a fan who shows his suggestions in the World of Warcraft subreddit.
Who is the person you are talking about? The Reddit is from Reddit user “Fishbones06”, who has been posting his suggestions for new glyph designs on the WoW subreddit for months. Some of them are “just” simple pictures, others even have animations. However, even the still suggestions are quite detailed and show how good the glyph system could be.
Fishbones06 has now amassed well over 100,000 upvotes with its suggestions combined – no wonder considering how awesome some of the suggestions look.
What ideas did he have? We would like to briefly present a few of the most interesting ideas to you here.
One of Fishbones06’s newest creatures is a cosmetic twist on the warlock demons in the case of Zandalari trolls. Two different sets of glyphs would equip the demons with either golden Zandalari armor or red, voodoo-esque blood troll designs, depending on what you wanted. The golden succubus in particular with its numerous decorations stands out impressively here, but the voidwalker also makes a good impression.
Fishbones06 has come up with a special glyph for the earth elemental for shamans, which archeology fans should particularly like. The normal earth elemental is spiced up here with bones and fossils that were buried in the earth.
The concept idea for undead mechagnomes is a bit darker – i.e. cybernetic gnomes whose bodies have long since died and who are only kept “alive” by their technology:
Equally sinister is a Forsaken druid form, the “Moonkin Abomination,” which has been assembled from multiple bodies, reminiscent of the worst Scourge and Drustvar creations:
The shaman ideas for Forsaken go in a similar direction, should they ever become playable. Then undead could use tombstones as totems or summon an extremely cool tombstone elemental (including skeleton):
Priests would also get their money’s worth and could reclaim their Yogg-Saron tentacles from Legion or have wings of Il’gynoth on their backs. A “holy” version of the shadow form is also conceivable, as well as other characteristics of the Old Gods.
Finally, a few modifications for the Paladin’s Avenging Wrath wings. There are many different suggestions here, roughly one for each race. For example, draenei could spawn parts of naaru on their backs, while zandalari trolls attach the wings of pa’ku to themselves. Dark Iron dwarves, of course, burn with glowing wings of the Firelands.
