WoW WotLK Classic: No Hunter Melee Weaving + Auction House Updates
We still have some info nuggets about WoW: Wrath of the Lich King Classic for you, which affect hunter melee weaving and some planned auction house updates.
In the last few days there hasn’t been just one Update on enabling and disabling XP gain in PvP battlegrounds from WoW: Wrath of the Lich King Classic, but also info nuggets on other areas covered in the Forum section of the “WoW Community Council” such as in the beta forum were discussed. This covered Hunter melee weaving and some planned Auction House updates.
No melee weaving by hunters
The starting point of discussion number 1 was a post from the player Goonunit, who was hoping Blizzard would finally fix a specific bug from the beta that currently doesn’t allow hunters to weave in a melee attack after an autoshot (melee-weaving). That worked in the original WotLK. If the bug stays, then from the player’s point of view it would end in a big nerf for hunters, and if Blizzard lets this bug in there to secretly kill melee weaving, then comparable “inconsistencies” like the lining up of Heroic Strike the warrior to be adjusted.
Two days ago has now Game producer Aggend reported and confirmed that this is not a bug. “The current behavior and interaction between autoshot and melee swing timers is by design and consistent with 3.3.5.According to Aggend, the following rules apply here:
- Performing a melee attack resets the ranged swing timer.
- Performing an autoshot resets the melee swing timer.
- Arcane Shot and other abilities are NOT affected. Casting Arcane Shot without performing an Auto Shot will not reset your melee swing timer.
In fact, according to Aggend, this is one of the cases where you didn’t have to contact the original designers because the changes in the database were documented in detail in July 2008 by one of the designers. As you can imagine, some hunters aren’t all that excited about the fact that melee weaving will not be a hunter theme in Wrath Classic.
Planned Auction House updates
Topic number 2 revolves around all the weaknesses of the WoW auction house and became opened by Council member Kruffzz in early July. However, just two days ago, WoW developer Pazorax spoke up:
- For TBC Classic, the developers built in throttling to limit scans by auction house addons. Search queries via the auction house’s standard UI were also affected.
- With Wrath of the Lich King Classic, the developers will “Separate addon and native UI throttling so they can more specifically target the behaviors that are causing performance issues for other users.“
- This way, users of the native user interface should be less affected by misbehaving addons.
- With one of the next patches, the developers also want to build better sorting options into the standard UI of the classic auction house.
